The Problem
Small businesses need outside help but can't outsource with confidence. Three fears came up in every conversation:
No budget to waste
There's no room to hire staff or pay for extra tools. Every dollar spent has to land.
No time to manage it
A small team juggling everything has no capacity to chase freelancers for updates.
No way to judge the work
Without in-house expertise, owners can't tell if what they're paying for is any good.

“How might we help small business owners find and manage reliable outsourcing partners efficiently, even with limited resources?”

Every interview surfaced the same fear: paying for work you can't evaluate. That one finding shaped all three core design decisions.
The Solution
Pain: No budget for extra tools or staff
One dashboard for everything
A subscription model replaces per-project quotes: clients request any service in their plan from a single dashboard, with no tool sprawl and no hiring.
Service detail modals spell out scope, deliverables, and process up front, cutting the back-and-forth that used to eat both sides' time.

Pain: No way to control costs
Pricing shown before you commit
The request form collects every project detail up front and displays the full price before submission, because cost fear was the number-one interview theme.
Clients submit in one click knowing exactly what they'll pay. Quotes stopped being a negotiation and became a fact.

Pain: No expertise to judge the work
Progress you can see, feedback in place
Tasks route automatically to verified experts, so clients never have to evaluate freelancers themselves.
Progress bars, timestamps, and inline comments put the whole engagement in one thread: faster feedback loops, fewer errors, no status-chasing.

Design Foundation
Under the screens sits a user flow and IA built around one job, getting from request to result with the fewest decisions, plus a component system that kept the team shipping fast.

Ship the dashboard before the sign-up page
With a hard timeline, I ranked features by customer constraint, not by launch convention. Clarity around past requests was the real bottleneck, so the dashboard shipped first.
Push the product toward AI
Market research showed a pure freelancer marketplace couldn't differentiate. I made the case to evolve the model from freelancers ↔ clients to freelancers + AI ↔ clients, the direction the product runs on today.
